Ugghh.... More snow, go away winter! I'm so tired of all this cold and yucky weather. We have gotten about 2 inches in the last few hours and we're supposed to get another couple of inches tonight. The kids loved playing in the powdery snow today though.
Can you guess who's the lover and who's the fighter? Oh yea, and who loves Barack Obama?
Well of course Ivan is the lover and Aubree is the fighter, it will be interesting to see if they hold these characteristics as they grow up. Every morning I wake the kids up and we go into the sunroom and watch cartoons for about 10 minutes in the rocker, then I get up and go fix their breakfast. Well, Ivan being the lover that he is wants Aubree to stay in the chair with him so he can smell her head and hug and love on her. Do you think Aubree wants any part of that from him, uh, NO. She gets up and follows me to the kitchen and Ivan proceeds to cry with hurt feelings because she doesn't love him. Well on one morning I made an effort to slowly ease out of the chair and leave her with him. It worked I went into the kitchen and could hear Ivan being sooo sweet saying, "I just love you Aubree, I love you Aubree, I love you so much", it was very cute, I think he wanted a response but didn't get one. Here's the pic.
Oh, and I shouldn't forget Barack Obama... Well Ivan loves the President, they had an election at Montessori and he says he was the only one who voted for Barack Obama. The day they had the election I asked him why he voted for Barack Obama and not John McCain, he said "Because I like boys with hair, and the old guy didn't have hair". Okay well a good a reason as any I guess! Well he was eating his dinner when the news said Barack Obama would be giving an address to Congress that night and he asked if he could stay up and watch it, because he loves Barack Obama. So we did watch the address, he and I layed in the bed and he intently (for the most part) watched and listened to the President, with some pretty insightful 5 year old questions, as always. He said one day he was going to be like Barack Obama, and even have the same color hair. :) I've always said he would make an excellent policitian!
Aubree is my little songbird lately. She breaks out in song all day long, I find it pretty cute. Sometimes it takes listening for a while to make it out, but she has several in her repertoire. The most popular is Jesus loves me, followed by Twinkle Twinkle, The Barney Song, Where is Thumbkin?, Clean up, Clean up, and Old McDonald. I really need to try to remember to catch her on video. She absolutley loves to sing, she literally has been singing since she could talk.
I like to think I am a person who is thankful for all the things I have in life. However, I guess I may have taken electricity, a warm shower and bed a little for granted! We lost power from Wednesday to Saturday. It was an interesting week, of course the kids were home with no tv, but it was nice to be forced to stay at home and get some rest. And I did play the longest game of UNO I have ever played in my life.
Wednesday night we laid in bed and listened to trees fall behind the house ALL night long, I jumped literally every 10 minutes because it sounded like they were so close they could hit the house. This one missed our bedroom by about 5 ft.
